Interview with Nils Helmig, Ronny Hoff and Marion Uphoff
Providing opportunities for individuals
MEWA provides prospects and the opportunity to make the most of yourself.
At MEWA, employees take responsibility – for themselves and others.
Encouraging further training
MEWA knows the only way to ensure success is with continuous development.
All three have made their careers at MEWA. And developed to become managers within a very short space of time. ‘I’m a perfect example of how people get ahead here. I have been the sales manager in Bottrop since September 2013,’ says Ronny Hoff, who started as team leader 1st October 2009. MEWA offers basic and advanced training, courses, qualifications and mentoring, he explains. ‘MEWA always recruits its management staff from within its own ranks, by nurturing and supporting them.’
Regional manager Nils Helmig started as a junior salesman in 1999. A mentoring programme allows inexperienced young members of staff to learn about sales and field sales from scratch. Today, Helmig is a regional manager, showing junior staff the ropes himself. ‘The sky’s the limit,’ he says – and you can tell that’s true for him.
‘MEWA is a family business'
Marion Uphoff also worked her way up from sales assistant to team leader within three years. She has been head of recruitment in the sales department for two years. It is her job to ‘give people the opportunity every day to join MEWA and build a career here,’ she says. She believes what makes MEWA special is not just the vast range of development prospects for staff. In her eyes, ‘MEWA is a family business, despite it being such a big company with more than 5,000 employees all over Europe.’ ‘We all work in teams that function well: we help each other and provide feedback.’
‘We are looking for people with potential.’
The company looks just as much to its highly qualified staff as it does to those entering the jobs market for the first time and those looking for a change in career. ‘MEWA provides opportunities,’ explains the recruitment expert. ‘We are looking for people with potential. Motivation, a determination to achieve and a passion for the job are crucial – MEWA then provides the best qualifications.’ The long-established company, which is over 100 years old, is a global market leader with its cloth wiper service, says Uphoff: ‘And it does everything it can to keep it that way: it invests in its people.’
