Information about the company:

Garage Van Avondt, located in Herent is concessionaire for BMW and MINI in the Leuven region. The contract with BMW was signed more than 50 years ago. Today Van Avondt is one of the largest official BMW and MINI dealers in the region. New and used vehicles, spare parts and accessories are part of the offering, and naturally maintenance and service as well. Every day 48 employees work together in the workshop and in vehicle manufacturing under the direction of operational managing director Koen Van Orshaegen. Van Avondt has been a MEWA customer since 1998.

With a scope of approx. 1,000 vehicles, Van Avondt is one of the largest official BMW and MINI dealers in the region and also the firm also scores as one of the top 3 dealers in the area of customer satisfaction. Not least, the attractive appearance of the car dealership's employees, contributes to this excellent position. Suitably attired they make a positive impression on customers. At the reception area and in the sales areas, in the workshop and in vehicle construction, all employees work in clothing that indicates at a glance that they are part of the team. At Van Avondt image clothing is part of good form. "This concept works," states aftersales manager Steven Vandensande. "Our customers would why our employees were not wearing recognisable work clothing." "What's more", interjects managing director Koen Van Orshaegen, "the uniformity of the work clothing promotes the professional presence of our people. And this in turns lowers the inhibition threshold for customers who today are not driving a BMW. We are sure", he nods, "that this investment pays off!"

From work clothing to business look

BMW Van Avondt and MEWA look back over approx. 25 years of shared history. The collaboration started with clothing for the employees in the workshop and it was then extended with a full service contract for the cleaning cloths. Several years ago outfitting with business clothing was added. Vandensande laugh: "Initially the employees had some reservations. Many did not like the idea of not wearing their personal clothing. This is no longer the case. All employees find their uniform outfit becoming and the system very practical. "In terms of clothing, even the employees in the warehouse have renounced their old-fashioned fabric jackets now wear comfortable jeans and polo shirts in a black leisure look. In the workshop and vehicle construction there are specified rules for employee clothing from the BMW side. Here the employees wear trousers and vests in asphalt in combination with a black T-shirt or polo shirt.

Simply practical, the MEWA service

Once a week worn garments are picked up so that they can be professionally maintained by MEWA. A practical service – this is consistently emphasised. From "My wife is pleased that she no longer needs to wash or iron my work clothing", to "what a luxury, you gain so much time when getting dressed in the morning", is the praise you hear from the individual employees of the car dealership. "We always look chic", laughs one of the ladies at the reception. The textile management from MEWA is well received, this much is clear. Vandensande adds: "The pick-up and delivery system functions perfectly. If we have change requests, we enter them immediately on the myMEWA customer portal. Then MEWA takes care of them." He laughs. "Practical, don't you think?"
